Inspired by the traditional “osterie” of post-war Italy, when street cafes were brimming with life and passion, Domenico Osteria at San Carlos is a restaurant and tasting room where vintage style meets contemporary spirit. Set against a black and white interior that evokes the spirit of 1950’s Milan, the bright space features an open view kitchen, burnished concrete walls, and a Calacatta marble wine bar, conjuring feelings of nostalgia lifted from an Italian postcard.
From house made focaccia, to plates of local and imported salumi and formaggi, “Mama G’s” polpetti, bowls of fresh pasta, and stone hearth pizzas, the menu is centered around using the best ingredients we can find, and serving them with the warmth of Italian hospitality…and of course, plenty of wine.
In Italy, the neighborhood osteria is the heart of a community. Historically wine-focused, the modern osteria now typically offers a small, but rich food menu that emphasizes local specialties and ingredients.
Think of it as Italy’s original farm-to-table experience—perfectly at home in California, and at Domenico.
The Osteria serves as the San Carlos tasting room for Domenico Winery.
Guests can enjoy a curated, ever-changing selection of tasting flights, showcasing the breadth of Domenico’s portfolio of Cal-Italian wines.
Tastings at the Osteria bar are 45 minutes long, and reservations are strongly encouraged for groups of all sizes (space is limited; walk-ins are accepted as possible on a first come, first served basis). Guests dining at the Osteria can always enjoy a wine tasting at their table!
